I know that this isn't the first time that this has happened, and it most definitely won't be the last. We were out at Pickup Stix, enjoying some Chinese food, and there was a family of 4 seated next to us, a mom, dad, boy & girl teen. And the girl teen kept staring at Jack! Not once or twice, at least 4 times that I saw. Yes, we know he's handsome, but seriously! We tried not to stare back, but at one point, I loudly whispered to Erik, "I think that one in the yellow shirt's never seen a black person before!" About 5 minutes after that, they moved to a different table!
Ok, we know how it must look, Erik & I out with our kids who both look nothing like us. But why stare? If you're really so curious that you must know how our children came to be in our family, have the balls to come up and start a conversation! We might actually talk to you! Staring's just rude.

Hi, I'm one of Auntie Anita's friends from the dark ages... I check in with Erik from time to time anytime I need the Bruvold family GPS to locate a Bruvold for me. He was kind enough to share these pictures of your beautiful children with me. First of all they both look like little angels. Sadly I cannot believe that such a racist person exists in this day and age. My hope is that they were staring at your children because they are so precious... though frankly (and I know the political scientists in your family will agree) since we are now blessed to have witnessed the election of a president who is a person of color, you don't want to be sitting near anyone who has never seen a black person because it means they don't even know who the president is. I'm glad I wasn't there because I would have confronted them and it wouldn't have been pretty for the police to pinch a middle-aged nurse for assault and battery. Sorry, I just had to comment on this! Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos with me. Anita can explain to you who I am and I'm also on Facebook.
God bless, Katrina
